Ali Zafar comes to Katrina's rescue

Updated at: 0156 PST,  Friday, October 22, 2010  MUMBAI: Neither Salman Khan(Chulbul Panday) nor Ranbir Kapoor(Prem) and not her co-star Imran Khan could come to her rescue when she needed it the most. But it was the Pakistani singer turned actor Ali Zafar(A paki lover boy) who became her saviour as Katrina had a minor accident. It all transpired on the sets of 'Mere Brother ki Dulhan'. As per reports, Katrina was standing close to a pedestal fan and all of a sudden her hairs got entangled and were being sucked in. A huge mishap may have occurred had Ali Zafar not instantly leapt to her rescue. Ali Zafar helped her hair get untangled and in the process himself suffered from bruises. A local spot boy also played his part and got injured. Katrina was overwhelmed with gratitude and gave Ali a tight, warm hug and a kiss on cheeks. However, the spot boy wasn't that fortunate. It was Katrina's way of professing her gratefulness and of course, Ali is not complaining. On hindsight, he must have enjoyed the hug. Ali, who made his Bollywood debut with 'Tere Bin Laden' is playing Imran Khan's brother in 'Mere Brother ki Dulhan' which is, currently, in the pipeline.

Belgian Pavilion Built Out of 33,000 Beer Crates. [7 Attachments]

 

Please wait images are loading ..... If the world needed any more proof Belgians love beer, this temporary pavilion, built out of 33,000 plastic beer crates should clear all doubts. Set right in front of the iconic Atomium building, the beer crate pavilion of Brussels was designed and built in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the 1958 Universal World Exhibition. Beer crates were chosen for the project, because the architects decided their work should evoke the concepts of universality and reusability, and nothing did that better than an ordinary item from the daily life of an ordinary consumer. An exercise in how a normal item can transcend its normal purpose and become architecture, the beer crate pavilion is made up of approximately 33,000 beer crates. It may seem like a tough structure to build, but designers actually said the chosen material made assembly easier and allowed them to explore architectural features like columns, arches and domes. As soon as the temporary pavilion is taken down, the beer crates will go right back to transporting bottles of delicious Belgian lager. I wonder if the designers had the "terrible" task of emptying all the 33,000 crates of beer, before using them…

French Chocolatier Creates Floating Chocolate Boat. [7 Attachments]

On Saturday, September 25, the walled city of Concarneau, in north-western France, hosted an event unique in the world – the launch of a full size chocolate boat. George Larnicol, the mastermind behind this crazy creation, first attempted to sail a chocolate boat on August 15, but the boat crumbled to pieces when turned over from where it was mounted. But one small failure wasn't enough to make Larnicol quit, and on Saturday, he returned to Concarneau port, with a new chocolate boat named "Bateau Chocolat II" (French for Chocolate Boat II) The 1.2-ton-heavy boat had a sugar framework, while the rest of it was made entirely of pure chocolate. It took Larnicol and his team one and a half months to complete, working eight hours a day, which adds up to a total of about 400 hours. George Larnicol and a friend got in the chocolate boat and sailed in it for a bout an hour, waving proudly to the audience, and smiling the whole time. The attached electrical motor allowed the Bateau Chocolat II to reach a top speed of 15km/h. Chocolatier George Larnicol, who owns a chain  of chocolate shops in western France, promised to build a giant 12 meter-long yacht, with two masts, made of 6 to 8 tons of chocolate, sometime in 2012. That's going to be a sight to be hold, and you can bet you'll read about it on Oddity Central.

Norilsk, Yakutsk and Vorkuta are the only large cities in the continuous permafrost zone. Norilsk is also the northernmost city on the planet to have a population over 100,000. Population: 134,832  174,673. MMC Norilsk Nickel, a mining company, is the principal employer in the Norilsk area. The city is served by Norilsk Alykel Airport and Norilsk Valek Airfield. Due to the intense mining, the city is one of the ten most polluted cities in the world. Temperatures sometimes dropping to 45 degree below zero Fahrenheit. Because it is above the Arctic Circle there are months in the winter in which the sun is not seen. It is a difficult place to build anything or maintain industrial operations. The situation makes even more impressive the 16th century development of Mangazeya, which even farther north than Norilsk.
